4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Nursery to High School

Sheridan Hills Baptist Church is a safe and loving place where children learn about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the importance of the local church.

We want our children to know the most loving truth--the Gospel--which is the good news that even though we have all sinned against God, the holy creator of the world, He is kind and loving to provide salvation for all who believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son.

At Sheridan Hills, we are committed to exposing children to the Gospel of Jesus Christ as early as possible.  Since we believe the Bible teaches that parents are the primary disciplers of their children (Deuteronomy 6:4-9) and not pastors, nursery workers, or student helpers, our desire is to partner with parents to help children build a sturdy foundation in the Bible and God's unshakeable promises.

Nursery (Infant-Pre K)

In our nursery ministry, we want to provide the building blocks for a Christ-centered Christian foundation.  Each class reinforces the truths of the Bible: God created everything, God is good, God saves sinners through Jesus, and God wants to change us.  Through key lessons on the Old Testament and New Testament, children will learn what God is like and what he can do.  As Deuteronomy 6 teaches, our ministry is meant to partner, and not replace, the essential duty of parents to lead and disciple their children to become faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

Family Dedication

We are careful to acknowledge that parents and children are wonderful gifts from God.  To demonstrate a commitment to pray for our children and parents, twice a year during one of our Sunday services, we carve out a special time of prayer and reflection on God's Word that we call 'family dedication'.  We simply thank God for families and affirm our commitment to love and care for parents and children.  Covenant church members with children are welcome to sign up for these special services.  To become a covenant church member, click here.

Elementary School (K-5th)

In our Children’s Ministry we provide a unique opportunity for children to come to know God and experience His love for them. We hope to continue building the foundation of their Christian faith by providing a rich and worshipful experience through Bible teaching, songs, games, and friendships.

During our Sunday morning Sunday School class (9:30am) children participate in Bible lessons that help them cultivate knowledge of God, love for Christ, and service to others.  Following the Sunday School hour, children gather to sing songs picked specifically for the main lesson.  During the main lesson, children are taught the Bible in a vivid and interactive way that helps them memorize weekly Bible verses and apply the teaching throughout the week.

On Wednesday nights, children are engaged in a Scripture-memory program called AWANA. Children enjoy energetic games, Bible-based teaching and small groups. AWANA is a program that promotes biblical literacy and helps children develop a lifelong devotion to Jesus Christ. REGISTER FOR AWANA HERE

As with all of our ministries, we partner with parents to help their children grow into healthy disciples of Jesus Christ who love God and love others.

Middle School

Middle School (6th-8th)

In our Middle School ministry, we hope to build on the foundation of Christian faith through gospel-centered teaching and Bible studies.  Teenagers are at a very formative stage in their lives which is why they are taught to see how the Bible addresses real issues that they face each day.  The Middle school ministry includes,

  • Weekly Wednesday evening gatherings for a time of rich, in-depth Bible study, followed by small group meetings, games, prayer, and fellowship.

  • Weekly Sunday School class where students gather to hear the Bible and participate in group discussion.

  • Frequent times of fun activities and off-campus events such as laser tag, zorb ball soccer, and camping.

  • Impactful annual retreats to study the Bible intensely.

  • Partnerships with parents to help their children navigate the difficult and often challenging years of their lives.

High School

High School (9th-12th)

In our High School ministry, we strive to prepare students to think deeply about a Christian worldview and begin integrating them into the larger church body.  Each student will hear the Bible regularly preached and taught and participate in one-on-one discipleship with others in the church.  Students are taught to trust in the good news that God saves sinners through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  By believing in Jesus, students can face life decisions, cultural pressures to conform to sinful lifestyles, and uncertainties with confidence and hope that God is good and faithful.  High School ministry includes,
