The Protestant Reformation began in the year 1517. But long before that, the Old Testament recounts one of the greatest reformations to have taken place in God's story of redemption: King Josiah's Reformation. After many kings brought Judah in a place of moral darkness and separation from the Lord, the future for God's people seemed bleak. God used King Josiah's reign to respond to Judah's predicament: it was during King Josiah's reign that the Book of the Covenant was rediscovered. Shortly after the discovery, King Josiah began to reform Judah's religious commitments by removing false priests and practices. Josiah's reforms are a reminder that God's people must continually seek to reform their lives for HIS glory.
